Fever Ray - Triangle Walks (Rex the Dog Remix)

I've been trolling the netz for some good Fever Ray remixes. I LIKE THIS ONE. I was so excited to see a remix by one of my favorites, Rex The Dog. He does such a great job with this song...I can't imagine a Fever Ray song being very easy to remix at all. Anyway he does SMART thing by keeping Karin's voice as a prominent instrument, as well as changing the tempo without destroying the fidelity of her distinctive voice.

Fever Ray - Triangle Walks (Rex the Dog Remix)

Bonobo - Nightlife

Here is a lovely, original, inspiring track called Nightlife, by Bonobo. Bonobo has more incredible tracks than you can shake a stick at. Matter of fact, I don't think you could shake anything at all his great tracks. Anyway, enjoy, and be sure to check out this pro's body of work.

Bonobo - Nightlife (Featuring Bajka)

The Whip - Divebomb

Here is a song by The Whip, called Divebomb...LOVIN IT. I like to listen to the song as I post, that way I get more excited about it. AND I'LL USE CAPS BECAUSE I LIKE THIS A LOT. I'll post two embedded videos, the original and also a Crystal Castles remix. CC really own this remix...sounds like a brand new song. Anyway, enjoy!

The Whip - Divebomb

Crystal Castles Remix

La Roux

You may have already heard of La Roux..she's making quite a big splash in the pool of people who like this sort of thing. She has red hair - hence La Roux, or The Red. Anyway they are a British electropop duo influenced by 80's synth pop. Their new album La Roux fits neatly into the 80's electro obsession. I washed my car to this album and it worked beautifully...so if you're looking for a way to multi-task, get out that soap and your smallest bathing suit. I'll give you her MySpace link so you can hear her songs which can't be embedded (thanks, Universal), but I will embed REMIXES, yes, REMIXES.

In For the Kill

Bulletproof

I'm Not Your Toy (Jack Beats Remix)

I like the first and last mixes the most, but I like to provide variety. In all cases I prefer the original, so be sure to go to her MySpace page.

Black Moth Super Rainbow

Black Moth Super Rainbow! I was a little annoyed at the name at first, but then after listening to a few of their songs I'm starting to understand the need for such an odd name. They are from P-Burgh, otherwise known as Pittsburgh or Papa Burgh, or even Puzzy-B. I hope those names catch on... Anyway this distinctive noise is achieved using ANALOG instruments. Yes, ANALOG! The song I choose to present to you is called Sun Lips. Here ya goooo. I WOULD SUGGEST NOT WATCHING THIS VIDEO - JUST LISTEN. WHAT A CREEPY VIDEO WOWOW

Neon Indian

This song will LIFT YOU UP!! Higher and higher...especially if you're having a bad day. This song will take all that badness and drop-kick it into Iowa somewhere. This beat and the birds in the background could continue all day and I wouldn't even mind.

Terminally Chill

Here is another song that I am just listening to for the first time right now. Another dreamy, boroque pop tune...I feel like I'm in a commercial for anti-depressants. By the way, these guys are totally mysterious so I have nothing to tell you about them, other than I think they are from Austin. Feel free to stalk them for me plzplzplz.

6669 (I don't know if you know)

ORANGE MOONBEAM FLOORSHOW - Hotel Gansevoort

Orange Moonbeam Floorshow is the project of Patrick Cleandenim...I suppose it's meant to be CleanDenim, though I'm not sure. Anyway this is all very mysterious to me...my friend Nico has a friend who was somehow involved in OMFL's new CD (yes, I think I am the first to propose an acronym for them, so pay attention: OMFL) so he played it in the car on our way to Athens, GA and we loved the first song, Hotel Gansevoort. This guy seems to be totally mysterious - kind of like David Bowie and Andy Warhol combined. I don't know anything about him, but I do like this track. Anyway it isn't on YouTube, but here is a link to his MySpace page.

Chairlift - Evident Utensil

Here is a good song by one of my favorite bands, Chairlift. This video is effing amazing... I can't embed it, but here is the link.

Matt and Kim - Yea Yeah (Flosstradamus Remix)

Power-pop duo Matt and Kim are all over tv in commercials (Bud light, I think) and seem to be all over music blogs as well. Definitely good to listen to if you wanna lift your spirits - their melodies inspire joyful energy and life. Anywayz. Here's a remix of Yeah Yeah by Flosstradamus.

Love the puppet.

Huoratron - $$ Troopers

Warning : Your shit will be busted if you choose to listen to this song. Huoratron would gladly eat your face. Huoratron would steal your tears and turn them into 8bit noise.

And isn't this the best possible video for this song???

YouTube Converters

Soooo. If you haven't heard of them already, there exist several free applications called YouTube converters that do what it sounds like they do: you plug in a YouTube link and it downloads the music from that video!! SO. What does that mean? It means that every time a video is posted on this site (or any other) (but I want the credit) it's basically a free song for you. YOU'RE WELCOME :) :P :) <3

Thunderheist - Jerk It

What do you think? Hahahaha... I like the song, anyway.

Lazy Wiki-copy-paste info:

"Thunderheist is an electronic music duo from Toronto and Montreal, Canada. Thunderheist is made up of producer Grahm Zilla (from Montreal) and MC Isis (from Toronto). The two began collaborating before they had ever met in person, sending MP3 files to each other over the Internet. They are currently signed to Big Dada. The group started in 2005 when Grahm accidentally sent Isis an mp3 track he was working on and she recorded a rap over it. They've received moderate popularity for their track "Jerk It" featured in the 2008 film The Wrestler."

This video was released as an entry for a video contest held by the band:

Here is THUNDERHEIST:

BY THE WAY. How often do bands put out promotional live performances without the crowd and with good sound quality? NOT OFTEN. And I like it.

Dragonette - The Boys

Here's a female take on "The Girls" by Calvin Harris. Now so much of a different take than just changing the gender. Still, it's a pretty fun remix and I just like knowing that there are two versions out there.

How the hell do you mis-spell lights?

Also, if you haven't heard the original Calvin Harris song:

And here is Dragonette:

Annie - Anthonio (Designer Drugs Remix)

A Designer Drugs remix of Athonio by Annie. Love this one...

Here's Annie:

Also, I'm not as big a fan of this remix by Fred Falke, but it's a nice contrast with the other remix, and I'm very impressed by how much he moved this song in his own direction

Je me Barre - Keny Arkana

This is just one of my new favorite French rap songs.

Here's a little info about the artist:

"Born in Marseilles in December 1982 of Argentine heritage, Arkana began rapping in 1996, with her first texts at the age of 12. She formed the collectives Mars Patrie and later Etat-Major, gaining performance experience in the Marseilles underground scene, culminating in the 2003 release of Etat Major's first mixtape."

And here's a picture of Keny:

The Very Best (Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit)

This album is fantastic. It's a collaboration between London-born Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit. I'm not sure how I feel about the obvious western influence. I love the songs but I'm not sure what the intention of the album was...maybe I can find an interview with the producers. Check out some of the tracks below:

Dinosaur On The Ark

Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa

Kamphopo

Get it Up

FEVER RAY

WHY DIDN'T I KNOW KARIN DREIJER ANDERSSON HAD A SIDE PROJECT? Well I guess I do now.

Fever Ray - When I Grow Up (What is that girl doing? I just want to hold her hand and tell her it's probably too cold!)

Fever Ray - Seven

Fever Ray - Triangle Walks (I can't believe this is an official video! When I see this I wonder if the person who made it was wearing 4 pairs of shades)

Fever Ray!:

Karin is looking very mysterious:

The Bird and the Bee - Love Letter to Japan

This is my favorite song of theirs. This is their official video for Love Letter to Japan.

Here they are reclining in a purple room:

Here is my favorite remix (though it is really long) of a Bird and the Bee song by Peaches (duhhhh):

HEARTSREVOLUTION - C.Y.O.A

Have a listen to this wonderful song which is full of wonder and music!

Here they are:

Tiga - Shoes

Tiga, from Montreal is releasing only his second album despite having worked with Feist, James Murphy, Gonzalez, Jake Shears, and Soulwax. He has also become well-known for his remixes, including remixes for Danni Minogue, Peaches, LCD Soundsystem, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, The Killers, etc.

Here is the track list for his new album:

01. Beep Beep Beep
02. Mind Dimension
03. Shoes
04. What You Need
05. Luxury
06. Sex O’Clock
07. Overtime
08. Turn the Night On
09. Speak, Memory
10. Gentle Giant
11. Love Don’t Dance Here Anymore

Finally here's an initial release entitled shoes:

Here's Tiga:

Le Corps mince de Françoise

Here's an electro pop group from Finland named Le Corps Mince de Francoise, which in French means "the body of thin Francoise". Anyway this group brings some upbeat rhythms combined with a wide variety of sounds which create a nerdy amalgam of ear candy punctuated by shrill almost-rap. Here are three of their tracks which will come out on their upcoming album. (Upcoming insofar as it will be this year)

COOL AND BORED

BITCH OF THE BITCHES

RAY BAN GLASSES

And finally a remix of Ray Ban Glasses

Necessary visual aid:

MANNERS

The new Passion Pit album, Manners is out! I'm currently in the process of listening to it so I can't really comment on how much I like it yet, but so far I've listened to "Seaweed Song" and it was a very nice tune. I think I will begin by posting in order all the songs I can find on YouTube.

1. Make Light

2. Little Secrets

3. Moth's Wings

4. The Reeling

5. Eyes as Candles

6. Swimming in the Flood

7. Folds in Your Hands

8. To Kingdom Come

9. Sleepyhead

10. Let Your Love Grow Tall

11. Seaweed Song

There you go, all of Manners in order. I would encourage you to buy the CD if you like these tracks, of course. Enjoyyyy

Dance Yourself to Death - We Are All Made of Stone

This song is sort of uncharacteristic of FN, but it's a pretty damn great tune. The simplicity really grabs me, as well as the focus put on the singer's voice - something that has generally been lost in pop music where most lead singers have their voices either overpowered or smoothed out digitally. Gotta hand it to these Canadians!

I wonder if there will be a remix of this song. I know I said I like the simplicity, but I can't help but wonder if it would sound good with fuzzy bass and sexy synth.

Fake Blood - Mars

Fake Blooooooddddd

Sorry there are a few minutes of this song with nothing in them.

Little Boots - Stuck on Repeat (Fake Blood Remix)

Here's a nice remix from Fake Blood of Little Boot's Stuck on Repeat. I'm liking this quite a bit right now.

WOAH! If you are an epileptic, please turn away:

5/20/09

Little Boots - Every Little Earthquake

Little Boots has her debut album coming out soon, called Hands. Look for it!

Here she is, all little and such:

Here is another single, New in Town:

Lady GaGa - Poker Face - Live on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

My sister showed me this awesome live performance by Lady GaGa which begins with a cool piano version. I'm also just so amused by her antics. And her general existence.

Google Search Tip For Free Music

Hey so here's a quick tip my sister showed me. Type this into the Google seach bar:
intitle:"index.of" (mp3) band name. Of course, replace band name with the band you're looking for, and of course you can put said name in quotations in the band's name is a phrase in order to find those words adjacent to one another. This is a pretty cool technique to try out - you'll be surprised what you find. Be warned - it isn't the easiest method necessarily but it indexes so many sites you can find some pretty obscure stuff. Enjoy!

5/19/09

Jack Beats - Get Down (Original Mix)

Enjoy this original Jack Beats mix!

Uffie - Pop The Glock (Sebastian Remix)

This is a remix that you really have to commit to, but I think if you get through all of it you'll find it a pretty rewarding remix with a lot of great detail to appreciate.

5/14/09

Kissy Sell Out - This Kiss (Jack Beats Remix)

So I guess I'm not the only one excited about Kissy's album - this remix by Jack Beats is FILTHY.

Jack Beats:

Royksopp - What Else Is There (Trentemoller Remix)

Vocals by none other than Karin from the Knife, combined with some surprisingly heavy Royksopp producing, then remixed by Trentmoller. Great track...better than the original in my opinion, though I am admittedly not a huge fan of Royksopp.

Kissy Sell Out - Apple Jelly

Ok, so if you go to Kissy's website, www.kissysellout.com, you will see there is a free track available, Apple Jelly. The bass is sooo sexy at the beginning I immediately had a huge grin on my face. If you are lazy or just want to sample it, here's a youtube clip with the song:

Kissy Sell Out - The Kiss

Fresshhhhh music from Kissy who is completing his debut album Youth, which is coming out June 1st! I just love Kissy's enthusiasm...something about him just makes me smile. Enjoy the video too - as I understand it, he edited it himself...truly a digital renaissance man.

KISSY IS SO LOUDDD (AGHAgkj!)

5/12/09

Tektonik Meets LMFAO's Remix of Hot N Cold

Here's a nice remix of Katy Perry's Hot N Cold. It even has new lyrics! Anyway I thought I'd share a video with some Tektonik dancing thrown in as well.

And, of course, a picture of Ms. Perry on Stepford St.:

5/11/09

Passion Pit- Moth's Wings (Manners)

Here's a new track from the upcoming album "Manners". SO PUMPED. May 18.

The Knife - Heartbeats (LIVE)

This is a song you can get lost in. The live version is pretty damn different from the album version, and I love the new tone...see I'm zoning out as I type this...

This whole performance is fantastic, and if you can buy their concert DVD, AN AUDIO VISUAL EXPERIENCE, which documents their legendary Gothenberg performance.

By the way, notice the slight difference in Karin's voice as she is singing live without the after effects Olof tends to add. Regardless, her voice is fantastic and still has the same effect for me as in the album version.

Passion Pit - The Reeling

I'm fucking excited for MANNERS, a new Passion Pit album being released by Syd Butler's label, Frenchkiss on May 18. Maybe I didn't stress that enough. SO FUCKING FFSDFGSD EWXCITED SFGRDF!

Here's the first release:

Here's the album cover - a design that I really love...from a Photoshop perspective, the delicate shifts in hue and subtle filters make it a treat to stare at for a bit, though it's nothing too fancy technically.

5/10/09

Herve - LA LA LAND

Here is a track from UK DJ Hervé, aka Joshua Harvey.

Enjoy!

EYE CANDY: Yelle Pop Up!

I think I'm going to start adding random pictures/pieces of digital art. This will henceforth be called EYE CANDY!!! Here's an image of Yelle I made.

Libertines - Ha Ha Wall (Kissy Sell Out Remix)

I love the mood in this remix. A great song to begin with, and this UK DJ/Graphic Designer adds some great flavor. Mmmm dirty synth...and the way in contrasts with the chill guitar riffs is great.

Here's a pic of Kissy. I love how this guy smiles in every picture.

Feist - I Feel it all (Diplo remix)

Wow I'm pretty impressed with Diplo at the moment. Feist has some of my favorite pop melodies, and I love how Diplo teased this song into a sexy electronic mold. I can feel my head bopping in a way that it normally doesn't to Feist.

Here is a still from her video for Feist's 1234:

Bloc Party - Helicopter (diplo remix)

Here's a pretty sweet remix of Bloc Party by Diplo. Right now I like this better than the original, though it is certainly different and difficult to compare. Anywayyyy here ya go.

Here is Diplo grimacing like a baller as he pulls himself out of a pool:
Here's a picture of Bloc Party who deserve a picture (I GUESS) since they wrote the song:

The Knife - Lasagna

Only because this song is great. The Knife is great. Great.

And they look great.

The Sounds - Tony The Beat (Push It) (Rex The Dog Mix)

Here's another nice Rex The Dog mix. I listened to this several times on the bus dancing vigorously on my own and it was awesome. My neighbor was afraid to ask me to stop, I think.

Here's a gratuitous picture!

5/7/09

Katy Perry - Hot N Cold (Yelle Remix)

I got really excited when I saw this song. I love Yelle and ... I must admit I love Katy Perry too. Anyway this is a pretty cool mixture of styles.

Sorry for the weird video, I couldn't find another youtube version. Here's a gratuitous picture of the lovely Yelle:

The Hours - See The Light (Calvin Harris Remix)

Since I'm posting Calvin Harris remixes, this one is also pretty damn good in my opinion.

Passion Pit - The Reeling (Calvin Harris Remix)

I like most things Calvin Harris touches, and this track is no exception! Nice stuff from our friend in Scotland.

Don't you just love his fly eye spectacles?

Hot Chip - Touch Too Much (fake blood remix)

Take a look at this sexy remix of Touch Too Much:

Don't you just wanna party with them?

Crystal Castles - Crimewave

If you haven't seen this live performance of Crimewave from under an underpass, check this out.

Definitely have a listen to this Toronto group. Check out their Myspace page here.

The Knife - Marble House (Rex The Dog Remix)

My love for The Knife is unhealthy. Ever since I heard Heartbeats for the first time (and branched out into their deeper cuts) I've been completely hooked. It surprises me how few remixes there are of their songs considering how absolutely remix-friendly they are. Anyway this is one of my favorites:

I am a big fan of most of the Rex The Dog (aka Jake Williams of London) songs that I've heard.

Also, The Knife have some of the best promotional pictures I've seen...here's one I made:

Mr. Oizo feat. Uffie - Steroids

New song from the lovely Uffie. The French keep churning out great electronic treats, Mr. Oizo especially. Check it out.

Here's a little fact: Oizo, when pronounced phonetically in French makes the word "oisaeu" which means bird.

Completely gratuitous:
